GWD Loves

I thought it might be helpful to list the products I use on a regular basis.

Please note, unless stated otherwise, these are affiliate links. This means that if you click through and purchase, Good Wash Day will receive a small percentage in commission.

If you've been here a while you'll know that integrity is at the cornerstone of GWD. So of course I put a lot of thought into selecting which business I would work with and chose a fellow small business: one I've personally shopped with for over two years, run by a wife and husband team which I think is pretty cool.

I will only ever recommend products I truly love. You have my word.

Just a reminder that you'll want to consider your hair type, lifestyle and local climate when choosing your hair products, so I'll share mine with you:

I have wavy hair (2B to 3A in the traditional way of categorisation). It's medium thickness, medium density and medium porosity, and is in really good condition. I live in the UK (so, you know, four seasons in one day).

Let's get to it...

Shampoo

Giovanni Triple Treat Shampoo

I use this most washdays. It leaves my hair feeling really clean, without stripping it of its moisture and oils. It also provides just the right amount of tingle.

Bounce Curl Gentle Clarifying Shampoo

Even though this is a stronger shampoo, it's not stripping. I use it as and when required to remove product build-up:

Conditioner

Giovanni Direct Weightless Leave-In Conditioner

Often I’ll skip conditioner and use this super lightweight leave-in instead.

Treatment

K18 Molecular Repair Hair Mask

I use this every few weeks, as and when required, often post-clarifying.

Styler

By Selina Restorative Protein Drops (not affiliate link)

Got a favourite product but wish it had a little more protein? These vegetable derived vegan protein drops can be added to any other product; as little or as much as you like, prescriptive to every single wash day. Utterly brilliant, and By Selina is a fellow small independent business.

JVN Complete Air Dry Cream (not affiliate link)

I'm on my second tube of this and I love it. I vary the amount I use depending on the amount of hold I want, and I usually add a drop of the By Selina Restorative Protein Drops mentioned above. I'm loving this combination at the moment!

Treluxe Reflex Curl Styling Serum

This is brilliant for single styler washdays.

Ouidad Climate Control Gel

This gel is excellent for fighting humidity and is often the one I'll reach for in the summer months.

Tools

Denman D90L Tangle Tamer Hairbrush

I use this brush to detangle whilst conditioning.

Tip: use from root to tips with the prongs facing away with you, with some tension, to help clumps form.

Puff Cuffs

I prioritise sleep over hair protection (I'm a light sleeper and have never found the perfect overnight headgear). I prefer a simple pineapple but scrunchies result in a tender scalp. These are a fabulous alterative because there's no tension.

Tip: size down to get a secure but comfortable fit.

Thermal Haircare Heat Cap

Microwaveable Hot Heads are perfect for aiding product absorption and optimising deep conditioning.

Tip: pop on over a regular shower cap.

Righteous Roots Scalp Brush

Gentle massage and exfoliation helps promote circulation and release loose hairs and dead skill cells. This scalp massager is a perfect addition to wash day.

Budget Friendly

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly option, Umberto Giannini is a highly regarded brand. Their Curl Jelly is practically a cult product amongst curlies! Giovanni Cosmetics are a really well-thought of brand too (I’ve mentioned their Triple Treat Shampoo above).
